Wiggling Chrysalises and Fun in the Sun

We suspended our chrysalises from the top of our butterfly hutch today and we watched them wiggle and wiggle.  It seems to soon for the butterflies to emerge front he chrysalises, but all this wiggling is making us wonder….stay tuned, we might have some butterfly photos to share with you soon.

Here is our updated Km Club chart.  The names are down the right hand side and all the little blue marks are the tally marks indicating the number of completed Kms.  The red numbers down the left hand side show the ribbons that have been earned.  What I love about this is that it's a visual representation of all the hard work the kids have done.  As a bonus, it also encourages them to interact with the chart, counting by 5s and 10s and 1s to figure out totals.  They are comparing numbers, determining which numbers are more and which are less and they are figuring out how many more Kms are needed to achieve the next ribbon.  Math is all around us and problem solving with a purpose is so motivating and engaging!

Our growth pattern just kept growing and growing today! (1 green, red, 2 green, red, 3 green, red, 4 green, red, 5 green, red….what would come next?)

We had some time with our other Kindergarten and Grade 1 friends this afternoon.  Perfect weather for outdoor play…not too hot, a gentle breeze and lots of sun.

These guys were being farmers today.

We will be leaving the school at 9:25ish tomorrow to walk up to Sutherland school.  It would be great if everyone could arrive at school on time.

Thanks to all of you have returned your yellow water park permission form.  Also, thanks for sending in all of your library books!
