Sky Art…..Wow!

Today was an exciting day.  We walked up to Sutherland with our big buddies again this morning.

The first part of the assembly was a recognition assembly.  This is something that usually happens at Brooksbank, but because we were already meeting at Sutherland, we decided to relocate the assembly. The recognition assembly is something that happens for the students in grades 1-7.  It was great that we got to be part of the audience today, in preparation for Grade 1.

Then, our "Sky Artist", Daniel Dancer, took the microphone and talked about his experience working with us yesterday.

We sang a song with him, one that we've been practicing in Music class.

Then he showed the video of the footage that he put together from yesterday.  The video is really impressive.  We are working on a way to share it with all the Brooksbank (and Family of Schools) families.  I will let you know when that happens.  Here are a few photos that I took off the screen (not the best quality, but they give you a sense of what it's all about).

Pretty amazing!  The kids were all so excited to see what they were part of.  When we were crouched down in our red shirts, it wasn't really clear what we were creating.  But seeing the image from the sky is quite breathtaking.  Again, I'd like to thank the Brooksbank PAC for providing all of us with t-shirts and I'd also like to thank our Principal, Arlene Martin, for taking this idea and making it happen….a HUGE undertaking…but so worthwhile on so many levels.  I feel honored to have taken part in this and I think the kids do too!
