January

A reminder…
January 9th is Curriculum Implementation Day (which is like a Professional Day).  There is no school for students.  I just thought I'd remind you so that you can make childcare plans for that day.

Singing and ….Singing

We started the day singing and ended the day singing.  This morning, we joined the grade 1s and 2s in area B for a little Christmas sing-a-long and some instrument playing.  Some of the kids in our class volunteered to stand in front of the group and play instruments or lead the songs.

Then, at the end of the day, The Bluesberries came to Brooksbank and sang Christmas songs with the whole school.

I just wanted to take this time to express how lucky I feel to be teaching your children.  You are such a supportive group of parents and your kids make me smile every day.  Thank you for your generous and thoughtful gifts…very much appreciated.

Wishing you and your families all the best of the season and I hope that 2015 brings you good health and above all, happiness.  Merry Christmas!  Enjoy your time together.

Signing and Stamping

We made some bookmarks today using stamps with letters in sign.  It was lovely to see the kids making bookmarks for friends and family.

Presents for you!

Hi Parents,

we have been working soooo hard on making a present for you!  They are ready to go home now.  I would love it if you could come in and pick yours up (they won't fit in backpacks and might get ruined while walking home).  Here's a sneak peek….

Come on in and pick it up when you can!

Christmas Trees

We worked hard today, folding, gluing and decorating.  I was so impressed with how well everyone followed the directions.  This project had a lot of steps and everyone was successful.  Take a look!

Success!

The science fairies were busy at work last night and we arrived to find some magic where our pipe cleaners once were…..

These glittery snowflakes are in your child's home envelope.  They are ready to be hung on the tree!

Reminders

Please return signed report card envelopes (you keep the insert) as soon as you can.  Thanks to those of you who sent them in today!

Tennis forms and $15 are due by Friday.  Again, thanks to those who have already brought them in.

Thanks for the wrapping paper donations….I will gladly accept more if you have extra at home!

Friday is PJ day (a small donation to Team Finn is suggested) and kids can bring one stuffy if they wish.

There will be no sharing on Wednesday, we will resume our sharing schedule in the new year.

Science Experiment Part Deux

So, after a failed first attempt, we are trying again….hopefully we have something to show for it tomorrow….stay tuned!

Jingle Walk Part Deux

Today, the weather cooperated once again and we went out and collected food donations for the Harvest Project.  Thanks to Sandy (Anaiya's mom and her sister), Lorraine (Alyssa's mom and her brother and sister) and Chandra (Jack's mom) for walking the route with us.  Also, a big thank you to Allison and Declan (Rory's mom and brother) for following us in the van so we didn't have to carry the food the whole way.  The kids jingled their way down the street spreading Christmas cheer.

We are readers!

Coming home in your child's home envelope today is a little book called the Gingerbread Man.  This supports our learning of rhyming words and learning about the concepts of print (that writing moves from left to right and top to bottom).  Please ask your child to "read" his/her booklet with you.  See if he/she can come up with any more rhyming words.  We practiced reading the booklet today wearing our reading glasses….take a look….
