Warms My Heart

We put the finishing touches on our lions today and they are now hanging in the hallway. Please take a look if you get a chance. We outlined the details today using a marker. For some of us, this is the first time we've ever really outlined anything. I worked with two kids first and showed them what it was all about and then they spent the morning teaching all of the other kids how to outline and I was able to step away and work with other kids. I love watching kids take on these helping/leadership roles with such confidence and positivity. I love watching kids learn from and with one another. It was such a lovely tone and feeling in the room and I loved every second of it!

"can you take a picture and put it on the blog?".....of course I can!

Rock Paper Scissors

Next Wednesday is Pink Shirt day. Please take a look at the School District website (sd44.ca) for more information. I let the kids know today that wearing a pink shirt is a choice. The message of the day is that kindness is important. I also said that if someone wants to wear a pink shirt, but doesn't have one, you can ask a friend to borrow one for the day. You can also wear red or white (or white layered over red) if you don't have pink. If you are looking to buy a pink shirt, I know Michaels sells t-shirts for about $5.

It will also be N sharing day on Wednesday next week (finally!)

Today I read a book to the class called "Legend of Rock Paper Scissors". Of course we had to play Rock Paper Scissors afterwards.

Have a great weekend!

Great Class, I'm not Lion!

We started a new art project today. It started with a directed drawing where we worked step by step to draw a lion's face.

Then we started painting the first colour. We will add more details tomorrow.

(once again, I tried to capture everyone at work, but I know I missed a few people....sorry!)

Tomorrow morning, I will be at the School Board office matting artwork for the District Art Show. I will be back with the class after lunch. The class will have a teacher on call in the morning. I didn't mention this to the kids today, but if you think your child would benefit from having a "heads up" about this change, please take some time to chat together before tomorrow.
