Lots to Share!

Yesterday, we had a test reader in our class. This student has been practicing a story at home again an again and was ready to read it to us. She did an amazing job!

One more "M" sharing....a sister with an M name

Some awesome collaborative building this morning.

Today we had another guest reader. Her story was just getting to the "good part" when we had to stop for some visitors. (We will finish the story tomorrow)

3 firefighters came to our class today to help us learn about fire safety and safety in general. We talked about safety when walking down the street, when in our cars, when riding a bike/scooter/skateboard.

We also talked about what to do in different situations if there is a fire. Here, we are learning to touch the door to see if it's warm. If it is, we learned not to open the door and to go to the window and shout for help.

We also learned that smoke rises and the safest place is close to the ground. We learned to "get low and go" and then we practiced it.

And we all met at our meeting place.

Then we tried again with a new meeting place.

We also learned what to do if our clothes catch fire. We Stop, Drop and Roll.

Then we all practiced it.

Finally, the firefighters put on their gear to show us what they look like and sound like so if we ever see them dressed fully in their gear, we won't be afraid and we will know that they are there to help us.

We finished our Valentine's artwork today. It turned out beautifully. It is hanging in the hallway, come and take a look if you get a chance. This will be the artwork that we use for our card project this year. It will be turned into greeting cards and will be available for you to purchase if you wish (in March...more information to come later). This is a school fundraiser.

Some 100 day projects came in today. They are wonderful! The kids are so excited.

This is 100 coins, it didn't show too well in the photo.

We are looking forward to our 100th day of school tomorrow.
