School directory

So, after a bit of confusion, I was able to send home a school directory with each student in the class. Since then I have heard from some of you that not all of the kindergarten students are listed.  This directory is published by the PAC.  I will look into it and let you know what I find out.  Thanks for your patience with this.

Busy day today!

First of all, I'd like to send a HUGE thank you to Carol, Dylan's mom, for coming in and turning a gigantic pile of artwork into neat and organized scrapbooks.  Just so you know, all of your child's artwork will be collected and kept in a scrapbook that he/she will bring home at the end of Kindergarten.

We started our day today painting instead of following our usual morning routine.  I would have taken photos, but, as you can imagine, there was a lot going on!  After the paint dried, I had a little "cutting crew" who helped cut out lots and lots of circles.  Then the same crew assembled the circles together.
Then, we added them to our tree!  Please look for our tree in the front entrance way during all of the holiday festivities.
Pretty awesome, huh?

Have a great weekend!  And thanks for all of the donations for our Mexican basket….it's looking good!

Card Project orders are here!

For those of you who ordered cards or notebooks from the card project, they have arrived!  I will keep them in the classroom until you pick them up because I don't want anything to happen to them in backpacks.

Buddy time!

This afternoon, Mrs. Nykyforuk and her Grade 3 students came to our class to do an art project together.  We worked together for about 25  minutes and accomplished so much!  We are working on torn paper pictures of snowmen.  They are almost finished.  Please check in early next week to see the finished pieces.

lost and found

These were found on the floor of our coat area last week and have not been claimed.  If you recognize them as your child's, please come in and get them.  Thanks!

Firefighters visit Kindergarten

We have been learning all about community helpers.  Thank you for all of the egg cartons, we now have enough, come in and see our firetrucks when you get a chance.  We also made some police officers that are on display in the classroom.

Today we had a visit from some North Vancouver Firefighters.  They came into the classroom and taught us all about fire safety.  We learned about phoning 911, staying low under the smoke, sleeping with the bedroom door closed, feeling the door (if it's hot, don't open), checking fire alarm batteries, having a family meeting place outside, stop drop and roll.  Then one of the firefighters got dressed in all of his gear.  He explained that if we ever meet a firefighter dressed in gear, not to be afraid.  Then, we all went outside and got a closer look at the firetruck…most of us wanted to go right inside the truck!
So much fun!
