We Did It!

From Yesterday….

We went into the gym between recess and lunch for the grade 7 farewell assembly.  It was HOT and we had to sit for quite a while.  The class did so well.  It was nice for them to see some of their older friends (from the playground and from peer mediating) all dressed up and being celebrated.

And here we are, on our last day of Kindergarten.  Look how much these kids have grown and changed.  As I was saying good-bye this afternoon, I told the kids that they are kind, compassionate, thoughtful, friendly, smart, FUNNY, and interesting people.  I feel so excited for each and every one of these kids.  They are ready for new adventures.  They have developed into independent little people.  I am sad to see them go and I will remember them with such fondness, but I am also thrilled to watch how they move through the rest of their Elementary years, growing and developing.  They are ready!

To all of you families, I want to send the most heartfelt thank you possible!  I have had such a wonderful year teaching your little ones.  Your support has meant everything to me.  Thank you for all of the gifts and kind words (both in person and in writing).  I feel the same way about you all.  We were a good team this year!

Enjoy your summer time adventures.  Enjoy your time together as a family.  Try new things, share stories and continue to play!  I look forward to hearing all about it in September!

Hugs and more hugs,
Claire

This sums it all up…."now I know my ABCs, next time won't you sing with me".  My heart soars!

What a Day!

I was met this morning by this little crowd who were here on behalf of all of the families.  What a lovely start to the day! They presented me with two absolute treasures….

The first was a book that contained a special message from each child in the class.  I will keep this forever.  I love all of the special touches and kind words and pictures that the kids included on their pages.  So precious!

And then….!  I was given this gorgeous handmade (!) box engraved with each child's name!  I am speechless!  I just love it!  I know I'm overusing exclamation marks, but really, how else can I show my excitement and appreciation?!?!  If that wasn't enough, there was a gift card inside!  (yes, another exclamation mark).  I feel so lucky to have spent my year with this wonderful group of kids and parents.  It has been a pleasure!  Thank you all for these gifts.  I feel special and loved…and a little emotional!

A couple of days ago, I was asked if we could create some artwork to honor some RCMP officers who have worked to combat impaired driving.  A group of such officers works for the North Vancouver detachment and are being awarded for their work.  We wanted to thank them for all they do.  Below is a sample of the badges we made for them to say thank you.  These badges are going to be displayed at the awards ceremony.

We delivered them to some officers who visited us today.

Then we gathered together to have our photo taken.

We were also able to meet a police dog (if we wanted to)

We are celebrating one last summer birthday today.  He brought us some popsicles to mark the occasion….so perfect for a day like today.

All in all, it was a pretty perfect day!
