Working Hard!

We had a very productive day today.  We worked a lot on segmenting words (breaking words up into their sounds).  For example: "cat" becomes /c/ /a/ /t/.  We worked mostly with words that follow this same pattern (consonant, vowel, consonant).

Some pretty cool morning building

we have a couple new classmates now!  Here is our first painted lady!

You can't tell from the picture, but some of these chrysalises were wiggling and shaking.  I anticipate that we will have many more butterflies by tomorrow morning.

We worked at alphabet stations today, practicing our printing, building words, finding beginning sounds, segmenting words and doing a bit of sorting (nothing to do with alphabet, but still important!)

This afternoon, after playing outside and eating lunch, we had a really calm and quiet rest and read time.  So peaceful.  We talk about how important it is to take some quiet time just for ourselves during the day.
