Check out this cool creation!
Today was our last official Km Club run. These kids are amazing. We have been outside running three times a week since just after Easter. Many of the kids set goals for themselves and worked hard to achieve those goals. There were numerous times that I saw kids encouraging each other and supporting one another. They maintained a positive attitude day after day. I am so proud of them. The final ribbon ceremony is on Friday afternoon. We will have one last chance to add some Kms to our final tally on Friday because we will be walking up to Sutherland School for an assembly (please see the end of this post for more information about that).
Look at these runnerS!
This guy ran 4 Kms in half an hour today! Amazing!
I know this is a dark photo but I couldn't resist taking it. We went into the gym this afternoon to watch the Brooksbank Talent Show. Our class had fabulous audience behavior and they really enjoyed watching their older peers perform.
We saw some dancers...
…some rappers…..
…..some musicians….
….some performance artists and lots of singers. What a talented bunch of kids. So impressive.
Here's what's coming up in the next couple of weeks…
On Friday we will be walking up to Sutherland Secondary School (with everyone else from Brooksbank) for an assembly. We are going to be involved in an epic (I cringe when my son uses the word "epic" to describe just about everything….but it's an appropriate word for what we're about to embark on) project. Our family of schools (Brooksbank, Sutherland, Ridgeway, Queensbury and Eastview schools) are going to be joining together to create a work of art with the medium being our students. It's called "sky art" and we will be joining together on the Brooksbank field, arranging ourselves in such a way to create an image. This image will then be photographed by a visiting artist from Oregon. It's quite an undertaking, involving 2500 students. A LOT of work has been done to prepare and on Friday, we will gather together to learn more. The artist will be leading the assembly and we will find out what our roles will be there.
On Monday, it's the BIG DAY….we will be creating the sky art with the other schools.
On Tuesday, we return to Sutherland for a celebratory assembly and to view the finished project. We will be walking to Sutherland again and will need to leave right away when the first bell rings. It's really important to be at school on time.
The other upcoming event that you should now know about is our field trip to Mahon Park water park on June 25. A yellow permission form came home with your child today. Please sign it and return it as soon as you can so that we can make arrangements for the day. You are welcome to join us at the park if you wish.
Finally, Ms Lee has asked that all library books be returned by Friday if at all possible. Please take a look at home and send in any library books you find.
thanks for reading this "newsy" post. Like always, please let me know if you have any questions.
