Sigh…..

It's hard to believe that it's the last day of school.  I just wanted to let you know how honored I feel to have been able to spend this year with your kids.  They are such a special, funny, smart, caring, quirky (in the best way possible) bunch of kids.  I so enjoyed watching them grow and mature into the people they have become.  Kindergarten is a special year.  The kids come in needing help with so many things and leave with more independence than I imagined they could.  I also want to express how lucky I've felt to have such a supportive group of parents to work with this year.  The partnership between home and school is such an important one and I feel like I lucked out with my partnerships this year!  Thank you for everything.  Enjoy your summer and I'll see you in September (the kids come back to me on the first day back for attendance and a quick catch up).

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We wrapped up the year with some time with our buddy class.  They read us stories and we talked together about our summer plans and our best memories of Kindergarten.  Here are some photos….

What a Day!

Here are some photos from yesterday.  We started our day saying good-bye to two very important people in our school.  Mrs. Martin is moving on to a District Principal position next year and Mrs. Jeffers is going to be enjoying her retirement.  We participated in a parade of flowers for the two of them.  Many students in the school brought in a flower for each and they ended up with bouquets of almost 400 flowers!  Such a beautiful sight!

Then in the afternoon, we hit the water park!  Here are some photos of all the fun.

We'd like to thank all of the parents and grandparents who were able to come and spend the afternoon with us, driving and supervising.  We had a great time and couldn't have gone without you!

I can't believe the last day is here!

What, no photos?!?!

I can't believe that I didn't take any photos at all today.  Sorry!  But I will take this time to remind you about our field trip tomorrow to Mahon Park.  We will be leaving at 12:45 from the classroom and will return just before 3:00.
Kids should bring:

  • car seat
  • sunscreen
  • bathing suit (worn under clothes is a good idea)
  • towel
  • water bottle
  • hat
  • water shoes
  • a bag to carry everything
All items should be clearly labeled with your child's name please.

Please do not send water guns.

We will be eating lunch before we go, so there shouldn't be any need for a snack.

I think that's all.
See you tomorrow!

A Whole Lot of Butterflies!

We had a little visitor in the class today.  Just before we were about to clean up, a little bird (we think some sort of woodpecker) flew into our classroom from the open area.  He seemed to like being in Kindergarten because he stayed for quite some time.  We turned off all the lights and closed all the blinds and finally guided him towards the open door where he flew out happily.

Do you remember a couple of weeks ago, we painted some paper bright colours?  Well, today, we turned that brightly painted paper into some pretty amazing butterflies, in the style of Eric Carle.  They are almost finished, and they look fantastic.  We can't wait to show them to you when they are all done.

We had a visit from the North Vancouver District Librarian today.  She told us all about the library's Summer Reading Club.  Some information will be coming home to you about it soon, or you can drop by any public library to sign up.

Here are some photos of our finished painted butterflies.  I just love them.  The attention to detail is quite wonderful.

Have a great evening!
