Pumpkins

If you haven't already done so, please sign up for a parent/teacher conference time.  The sign up sheets are located on a board by the office.  Reminder: Dismissal will be at 2:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday (as usual) and Thursday next week to allow teachers and parents to meet together to discuss student progress.

As you know, we will be having a Halloween Parade on Monday afternoon.  We ask that kids change into their costumes after eating lunch.  I will do my best to help them get into their costumes.  If your child has a particularly tricky costume to put on, you might consider dropping by to help him/her get changed.  Just a reminder that because we are walking through many classrooms, masks are not a good option.  Also, please leave any costume weapons at home. The parade will start at 1:15.  We will walk through all of the classrooms in the school, picking up classes as we go and checking out everyone's costumes.  Then the kids walk across the stage in the gym and then gather together to dance to the Monster Mash.  Parents are welcome to attend.

The rest of the day on Monday will be pretty low key, we will do some Halloween activities and read lots of stories and maybe even practice.  Too much excitement can be a bit overwhelming for some of our youngest students and they have a big day ahead, so I try to keep things pretty calm.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Here's a little look at our day today.....

some number stamping in play dough

Our last day at this week's math centres.

We also continued to learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin.  Today, we coloured some pictures showing the cycle and then cut them out and glued them in order.  Then, we practiced explaining the process orally.

We have a gardener in our group!  This guy received a pumpkin seed from his preschool last year and planted it in his garden.  Here is the result!  A gorgeous cinderella pumpkin!  He very generously brought this one in to our class for us to look at and explore.

Have a fantastic weekend!
