Guided Meditation and Cloud Gazing

Here are this morning's building creations….

This morning, we went into the gym and learned how to play California Kickball and learned how to run around the base and how to catch the ball and throw to first base.  We have no pictures to show you what we did because we were so busy playing!  The kids learned so quickly and everyone got a turn to kick and run.

Then, after recess and snack time, Miss C led us through a guided meditation.
Here is what she read to us….

Please make sure your eye are closed softly, as f you were getting ready to fall asleep.  Keep your eyes closed, but do not go to sleep.  Stay awake and listen to my voice.  Make sure not to move.  Feel your body remaining still and calm.  Feel your body becoming light, so light it begins to float up off the ground.  Begin to soar into the sky where it is warm and beautiful.  The sky is blue and full of white, puffy clouds.  Birds are singing and the sunshine is warm and golden.  Now imagine your favorite place.  Take a moment to imagine that place.  Imagine what it looks like.  Imagine what it smells like.  Are there any other people there or are you by yourself? Continue soaring through the beautiful, blue sky to your favorite place.  Fly overhead and see this place from the sky.  (This continues with more guided imagery but I'm not going to type the rest out…I just wanted to give you a sense of the activity).

Afterwards, the class talked about what kinds of things they "saw" and how they felt.  Ahhh, so lovely!

Then Miss C read "Little Cloud" by Eric Carle.  Afterwards, we all went outside and looked at the clouds (we've been waiting for all week for a day with fluffy white clouds!).  The kids looked to see what pictures they saw in the sky and then sketched their pictures.  Next week, we are going to transform these sketches into puffy clouds….stay tuned!

Reminder:  Monday is a Professional Development Day, no school for students.  Have a great weekend and we'll see you all again on Tuesday!
