Building, Mood Meters, Skipping and Finger Painting!

What a beautiful Thursday we had.  I was out of the building this morning and Miss C was in charge!  The kids started their day with some incredible buildings (as always!)

After recess, Miss C assessed the learning that took place during her Social/Emotional Learning Unit.  She asked the kids to create their own mood meter and to look through some pictures of emotions and decide where they would go on the mood meter.

Then, to find out if the kids could connect this knowledge to their own feelings, Miss C asked them to fill in a page showing how they felt.  The kids really showed great understanding of the different feelings and energy levels.  They also have some really good strategies to help them get into the green zone when needed.

This morning, one of the kids built a long, long "snake" with connecting beads.  That inspired us to try skipping.  We all went outside and spent some time learning to skip.  Everybody gave his/her best effort!

the mid-air jumping pictures are my favorite!

love it!

Then, at the end of the day, some of the kids worked on the background for their cloud masterpieces.  We used finger paint.  I was unable to capture the best part f this activity in these photos…the squeals of delight as the kids put their hands in the paint.

If your child didn't get a chance to finger paint today, he/she will tomorrow (we ran out of room in our drying rack)

We have some very talented "rainbow loomers" in our class.  This chain is growing longer every day!
