What a Beautiful Day!

Some more early morning building and chatting and working together…..

One student made an Angry Bird out of recycled materials to celebrate Earth Day.  Pretty cool!

this morning we took a walk up to Loutet Park to continue our study of the 5 senses…today we explored "touch".

We learned about texture and explored the bark of several different trees.  Miss C taught us how to do "rubbings" and we compared the rubbings of the various trees.

Then we had a little bit of time playing in a playground that we don't go to very often…so much fun!

then we had a little roll down a hill (maybe more than once!)

then, on the way back to the school, we went on a leaf hunt, each finding one leaf with an interesting texture.  We also had to dodge a sprinkler on the way back (not pictures), some of us are better than others at dodging sprinklers!!

This afternoon, we made rubbings of the leaves that we collected and compared what we saw, talking about the senses of sight and touch.

Some of us learned the game called "Tenzi" today.  It's a dice game where each player has 10 dice and roll and rolls until all the dice are the same number.  The first person to have 10 dice the same number shouts "Tenzi" and then we play again!  We're also practicing our quick number recognition….but shhhhh don't tell anyone!

more leaf rubbings

more rainbow loom work.  Please help me welcome Ms Forrest.  She will be working in our class quite often and we are so lucky to have her.  Here, one of our students is teaching her how to make a bracelet.

Such beauty!

Oh, I just heard, tomorrow there will be a bake sale at recess, lunch and after school.  Unfortunately I can't remember who is putting on the bake sale (it's one of the groups at school, maybe the do-good group or the environmental group).
