Miss C continued her lessons on feelings. Today she introduced a chart that will help us recognize how we are feeling and how our classmates are feeling. This chart is called a "mood meter" and deals with emotions and energy levels. If someone is feeling a positive emotion and is feeling energetic, they would put their magnet on the yellow quadrant. Green means a pleasant emotion and lower energy (feeling good and calm). Red means you are feeling an unpleasant emotion but have lots of energy. Blue means an unpleasant emotion and lower energy. She helped the kids think of situations where one might feel these kinds of emotions and then each student had a turn to come and place his/her magnet where he/she felt it should go. We talked about why it is important to recognize how we are feeling and why it is helpful if we know how others are feeling. This is something that we are going to continue on a regular basis. This might be a great way to start an after school conversation with your child, "what colour are you feeling?"
Some of the kids came over to the art table this afternoon and made a little Easter Bunny to take home. Not everybody wanted to, and that's ok.
I told the 2 kids that I was working with the tomorrow is going to be Mrs. Watt's last day with us. She is moving on to a new position at another school. These two were so thoughtful, that they decided to make a bunny for her. I haven't shared this news with everyone yet, so your child might not know that Mrs. Watt not going to be here after tomorrow. We will certainly be talking about it tomorrow.
We wish Mrs. Watt all the best. The kids and I have really enjoyed working with her and will miss seeing her at the end of every day.
