Waste Management

I was at a workshop this morning so I don't have "kids in action" pictures to share…. but I do have a photo of something new happening at school….

Yes, you got it….it's garbage cans!

All of the schools in School District #44 have switched our garbage cans for these waste management "stations".  We no longer have garbage cans in our classrooms and have central "stations" to manage the things that we need to dispose of.  In an effort to encourage us to be more mindful of the things we are throwing away, the bins are smaller and there are 3 options for disposal: compostable refuse, garbage, and recyclables.  To support this, please consider sending lunches and snacks that are as "litter-less" as possible.  Thank you for sending water bottles instead of juice boxes.  The kids will continue to bring home their lunch/snack waste to be disposed of at home.  Earth Day happens next week, what a great way to help our Earth, being more mindful about how we take care of our garbage.

Thanks for your support with this!
