Building, Working, Signing and Centres

What a great group effort!

Finding new ways to work with familiar materials

We did some table work today, sorting words that start with "r" and "s"

Rhena came in to review our colour signs and to teach us a few new signs.  This is "brown".

"t-shirt"

"yellow"

"red"

"black"

"white"

Then, Rhena signed a message, she signed "if you have green on your shirt, stand up" and the kids watched the signs and decided whether or not to stand up.

"If you have red on your shirt or pants, stand up"

"If you have blue on your shirt, stand up"

we earned the sign for gray

"If you have black hair, shirt, or pants, stand up."

One of the students in our class brought a ruler in that he got at Beavers last night.  He taught us all about how to use a ruler to measure, using standard units of measurement.  He measured our Giant's foot and discovered that it was 14inches long.

It looks like we had another sneaky visit from the Giant again last night.  I wonder if we'll hear from him again?  We read a book about the Giant today, "Jack and the Beanstalk".

And I'm sure you'll agree that this is the best picture of the day!  Someone was having a terrific time in the House Centre and another student was inspired to draw!  LOVE it!

Have a wonderful weekend!  Next week is Earth Week.  Consider biking/walking to school and packing a litter-less lunch.
