Journals and Alphabet Stations

We worked on our journals today.  The kids choose what they would like to draw about but if they were struggling to come up with an idea, I encouraged them to draw a picture of what "peace" means to them.

Today we did something new.  We started our alphabet stations.  There were 4 stations that the groups rotated through.  This station was al about rhyming words, matching pictures that rhyme with other pictures.  

Here, the kids are working together to put the lower case letters in abc order.

Here the kids are putting together puzzle pieces by matching the pictures together or by matching the lower case and capital letters together.  Then, trying to hear the first sound of all the pictures.

Here, the kids worked on printing their names with a capital letter at the beginning and the rest of the letters are lower case letters.
