Farm Fun!

Some photos of our excellent morning bounding and working together.....

Here's our birthday boy special helper!!!

This morning we walked to Loutet Farm in the pouring rain.  We met Jason who introduced us to the garden and explained what we were going to do today.

We learned that we were going to plant some garlic.

This is Munisha.  She is the other teacher at the farm.

Munich taught us that it's important to cover the plant beds with leaves for the winter.  Ask your child if he/she remembers why we do this.

Half of the class went to the field to rake up and collect some leaves to move into the garden and spread over the beds.

The other half of the group went with Jason and planted garlic bulbs in the garden.

We smelled the bulbs too.

Look at our dirty gardener hands.

Then we switched and had a chance to do the other activity.

More raking and collecting.

More garlic planting.

Then it was time for sharing.

Here's our birthday boy!  He brought a book to give to the class for his birthday today.  This was a really special book.  His dad wrote it and it was all about the people in our class and about the letter G.  We loved reading it!  It was fun watching all the kids' faces light up when their names showed up in the story.
