We had a really busy and productive day today. We went into the gym this morning and worked on our ball handling skills. We practiced dribbling with one hand and then the other. We bounced the ball and caught it. We threw the ball against the wall and caught it. We threw the ball up in the air and caught it. The kids worked so hard on all of these skills.
One of our classmates brought something from his garden to add to our weaving loom.
We worked our way through two math centres today. At this one, the kids roll a die and mark the number on a hundreds board. Then they continue to roll and count on, marking the next spot, until they reach 100.
At this centre, the kids work together to decide if numbers and picture representations of numbers (in the form of 10 frames) are more than 10 or less than 10. Once they have completed that task, the kids then match up the numerals with the picture representations.
At this centre, the kids put 5 numbers in numerical order. Each set of numbers has a different starting point, some using small numbers, others using larger numbers.
Then we switched and worked on one of the other centres. We will finish with the third centre tomorrow.
This afternoon, we got together with our buddy class and worked on a rainy day art project. We used white oil pastels on blue paper and then washed over our image with shades of blue paint. Half of our class went to Mrs. Mitchell's class to complete this project so I was unable to take photos of those kids in action.
This is when we did a wash of colour over the oil pastel.
These photos look a little bit silly (umbrellas with our buddies INSIDE the classroom?!?!). All will be revealed when the projects are all finished.
