We have been learning all about milestones during our Roots of Empathy sessions. On Tuesday, the class brainstormed lists of milestones that happen at different times in our lives (babies, toddlers, school aged kids, teenagers, adults). I was so impressed with all the things that the kids came up with (they thought of more milestones than the adults!).
Today, Baby Beau came in for a visit. We haven't seen him in quite some time and we really noticed how he is growing and changing. He is 8 months old today! He is so close to being able to crawl, he was reaching and wiggling across the blanket, trying to get his toys. He now eats food and has 2 teeth! He can take some steps while holding on to his mom's fingers and he's making lots of different sounds. The kids were delighted to notice all of these new milestones.
Tonight, maybe ask your child which milestones he/she is excited to reach. Maybe it's riding a bike without training wheels, maybe it's swimming in the deep end of the pool, maybe it's tying his/her own shoelaces. What a great way to set some attainable goals!
