Homework, homework, homework!
When we come back to school after Spring Break, we will be celebrating our 100th day of school (on Wednesday, March 25, to be exact).
On the 100th day, we spend a lot of time exploring the number 100 (seeing how far 100 steps is, seeing if we can jump 100 times, building a structure with 100 blocks, painting a picture of 100 things etc).
To get us in the spirit, I'm asking that everyone do a little bit of homework before the 25th of March. Please help your child create a "100 project". This project can be as individual as you wish, but it should somehow represent the number 100. Please do not go to any expense, household items work perfectly for this project.
Many people choose to display items glued on a piece of poster board in groups of 10s (10 stickers, 10 plastic bread tabs, 10 paper clips, 10 q-tips etc). Other people find 100 of 1 items and create a project (such as 100 paper clips linked together, making a necklace with 100 beads). You can help your child build something to show 100 (a project made of 100 Lego blocks).
We have been practicing counting by 10s to 100. Please remind your child of this strategy as he/she works on this project.
I hope you have fun with this and I can't wait to see what you come up with!
