Summer Reading Club

We had a visit from the North Vancouver District Librarian today.  She told us all about the summer reading club that all public libraries in BC take part in.  registration for the program starts today and it's free to join.  Please contact your local library for more information or look at the brochure that came home in home envelopes today.

Also in home envelopes, you will find a piece of paper.  As part of our new curriculum, students are assessing themselves in regards to the core competencies.  We chose to focus on Social Responsibility this year. These self-reflections are kept on file from year to year.  This year, we read stories about working together, solving problems, accepting differences and being responsible.  Then the kids decided how well they do in each of these areas.  I met with each student and they told me more about how they think they are doing in each area.  The writing that you see is me scribing your child's words.

Yesterday, the kids brought home their Father's Day presents and cards.  Many of them told me they hid them in their rooms.  I just wanted you to know to look for them on Sunday.

Here is the District Librarian.

These are some books that she told us about.

This is the poster for the reading club, the theme is "walk on the wild side".

Here are our two guest readers today.  Piggie and Elephant books seem to be the favourite books to share this year!

Have a great weekend.  Happy Father's Day to all of you Dads!
