We worked in our journals today. I asked the kids to show (with pictures and words) everything that they know about the life cycle of a butterfly. We talked about the difference between "kid spelling" and "adult spelling". I asked them to use their best kids spelling to explain their pictures. Then the kids came to me and orally told me what they know. Not too long ago, most of the kids were just recognizing the beginning sounds of words. Now they are really stretching out the sounds and listening to the beginning, middle and end sounds. They are also more able to accurately match letters to their sounds. This was a lot of hard work today. Everyone was focused and did a great job!

We had a visit from two students today who performed a "Piggie and Elephant" story for us. It was very entertaining!
