Just a reminder that tomorrow is Curriculum Implementation Day. Teachers will be at Sutherland working with other teachers from our School District on the new curriculum. There is no school for students.
Here's a look at another tower, these kids make sure that I take a photo so that you can have a look at their creations!
Today we did some group work with ten frames during calendar time. We showed how to represent an addition equation on a ten frame. We also learned that when you look at a ten frame, you don't always have to count to show the number or to read the number. Our brain can remember the arrangements of dots and the corresponding number. After some practice together, we went back to our tables and did some independent practice using stickers to fill in the ten frames. I heard lots of kids chatting, saying "I don't even need to count!".
And then, someone lost a tooth!
Here she is with her happy grin.
Today was our last tennis class. Well, that's not really true- because Marcus was sick one day, he will make up the class at a later date (probably in mid February). So, it was our last tennis class for a little while. Here's a look at us in action.....
This afternoon, Miss Harstone read us a story about Bear's Winter Party. We really enjoyed the story and talked a lot about what we thought was going to happen and what really did happen. After the story, we went back to our tables and wrote our own invitations to a winter party. On the cover, we drew a picture of the party and on the inside we drew what kinds of foods we would like at our parties and who we would like to come. Miss Harstone also challenged us to write some words labelling our pictures.
Have a fantastic weekend!
