This morning began with some very focused building. This group of kids started creating something with our planks, and it evolved and expanded numerous times. They talked together about their plan. They ran out of planks and then gladly dismantled parts of their creation to add to the other end. They encouraged one another and included others who were interested in joining in. As they ran out of blocks, they took blocks from the other end. In doing this, their creation began to snake around the room, taking on new forms as it went. It's tricky to see from the photos, but this structure had several levels each serving a different purpose.
Another group worked happily building with big interlocking blocks. They were telling stories about their creations and talking together about how their stories connected with one another.
Other kids were sharing a colouring page together, talking about what colours would look nice and deciding which parts were going to be done by each person.
These two were both working on drawing trolls together. They were discussing the things they knew about trolls and why they were choosing their colours. Then, they were writing some words and talking together about sounds and letters.
And these two (even though it looks like they are far away from each other, they are actually really close) were chatting and showing each other pictures.
This morning time made my heart so happy today. I love this group's willingness to share and work together. They are such a joy and pleasure to teach. (Ok, enough mushiness....)
We've been talking and learning about Chinese New Year. Most of us managed to finish our dragon puppets today.
The rest of the school was involved in an Inquiring Minds project today. We went into the gym to check out the end products of their work. Here's a look.
We are going to have an opportunity to turn our boxes into something magnificent on friday. Please continue to send in boxes if you haven't already done so.
This little crew took it upon themselves to clean up our playground this afternoon. We made sure to tell them how much we appreciate them.
Finally, tomorrow is P sharing day!
