Here we are at the end of a very busy week. The kids have been learning all of the classroom routines, they have been getting to know all of their classmates and learning lots of new things. I am so pleased with how well they are all adjusting to a busy Kindergarten day. This is a group full of creative, smart, caring, thoughtful and funny kids! I am so looking forward to the year ahead.
Here's a little peek into our Friday.....
During arrival activities today, many of the children were extending their understanding of patterns (that we explored yesterday) by building more today. This is self initiated exploration, and I couldn't be more excited!

Everybody eager to have his/her photo taken.
Drawing and writing happening spontaneously and collaboratively.

Later in the day, we worked on our alphabet books. (A says /a/, A says /a/, alligator, alligator, /a/, /a/, /a/). We coloured the pictures on the E, F, G, H pages today.
We worked on using colours that make sense and taking our time to do our best job.
Then, when we were done colouring, we took our booklets to the carpet, put on a pair of "reading glasses" and looked at our booklets with our friends, practicing the pages we could remember.
Then, after all that hard work, we headed outside to have some chalk time....

After lunch, we have a time called "rest and read". Kids can choose to look at books or just rest quietly. We stay on our mats and we don't talk. I think all the kids were ready for this today!
the end of a busy, tiring, exciting week!
I hear we are in for some rain next week. The kids will be playing outside, even if it rains. Please send boots and waterproof coats with hoods. I don't allow the children take umbrellas out to the playground because they can be quite dangerous when everyone is running about.
Have a great weekend everyone!
