A Very Busy Day

Although we don't yet have a sign outside of our classroom, we are a peanut/ nut aware class as one student has a life threatening allergy.  Please be mindful of this when you pack lunches for your child.  Thank you so much for your understanding and consideration of this.

We had a very busy day today and the kids did so well!

We started our day with our Arrival Activities and we learned that the pegboards held 100 pegs!  We counted by tens together...math!

Some of the kids took the pattern blocks and sorted them by colour (something they decided to do on their own!)....more math!

Another child was exploring magnification and discovered that he could see a reflection in the glass of the magnifying glass....science!

more math in action!

Then we heard from the people who didn't have a chance to share yesterday.  A favourite book from home.

the Hulk

and Dora came to school today.

We have had the playgrounds to ourselves this week, learning the rules and routines (where to line up, where our boundaries are).  Next week we are going to be on the playground at the same time as the rest of the kids at school.  But we will have the pink playground all to ourselves for a little while longer.

Here are some photos of us enjoying this beautiful sunny day.

check out these action shots!

We had our first report of a lost tooth this year.  So exciting!

watching how our shadows respond when we move our bodies and the objects around us...more science!

Then we came back inside and explored patterns.  We built a pattern around the carpet with our bodies.  Can you see what the pattern is?

I needed to be part of the pattern because we ran out of people!  Thank you to our guest photographer.

This is a different "people pattern", look at the bottom halves of their bodies.

Another one, look at their hair.

Then we used unifix cubes and blocks to build our own patterns, take a look....

And finally our last classmate shared her special book.

What a great day!
