Our class and one of the other Kindergarten classes at Brooksbank are proposing a new "birthday tradition". In the past, children have often celebrated their birthday by bringing in treats to share with their classmates.
We would LOVE to start a new tradition in our classroom - one that promotes literacy as well as health and nutrition.
If you wish to share something with the class in celebration of your child's birthday, please consider a book instead of a treat. We could read that book together on your child's special day and then it would stay in the classroom in a library of "birthday" books for the children to enjoy all year long. This book can be one that your child is finished with at home, it doesn't have to be brand new.
