This is a very photo heavy post..we had a lot to share today!
We had a very productive day today. We took all of the natural materials that we gathered on Tuesday and created "journey sticks". We used a stick that we found on our forest walk and attached other pieces (cones, leaves, stones) to tell about our walk through the forest. We used coloured wool to represent other things that we saw, heard, smelled or felt while we were exploring (grey wool could represent rocks for example). Some of us added a bell to our stick (representing the birds we heard or the tags jingling on a dog's collar). While we created these journey sticks, we talked about our experience, expressing ourselves orally and telling the story of our time in the forest. I am going to display these in the hallway next week. I will also be asking the kids to tell me the story of their journey sticks and I will type them out for all to enjoy. Stay tuned.

We learned different ways to sort items today and then had lots of time to practice and explore. After we finished sorting, we looked at the following photos together on the TV and guessed each others' sorting rules. We sorted by colour, size, shape, type, texture and thickness, among other things. See if you can guess the sorting rules for these photos. Again, sorry, there are A LOT of photos.
