Gym and Feelings and Kilometre Club

Miss Maria taught our gym class today.  We moved our bodies around the gym to music.

We skipped

We hopped on one foot

Then when the music stopped we all struck a pose

Then Miss Maria sprinkled hula hoops around the gym and when the music stopped we all had to find a hoop to stand in

Each time, Miss Maria removed one hoop.  So, we had to gather together and share the hoops.

After gym, Miss Maria range  chime and we practiced calming our bodies and our minds.

We talked more about feelings today and acted out some feelings while our friends guessed.

can you guess these feelings?

Then we learned about a "feeling meter" and placed different feelings in each of the zones.

I'm sorry I was missing in action on Friday.  I sprained my ankle on Thursday night (after having just sprained it two weeks earlier).  I spent a long night waiting for an x-ray and was in no shape to teach on Friday.  Things are on the mend now, so we should be back to normal!

Tomorrow is our first day of Kilometre Club.  This is something that all the primary students do in the Spring at Brooksbank.  We will be going out to the field 3 times a week for half an hour each time.  The kids run or walk as many times around the field as they can for 30 minutes and collect popsicle sticks each time they complete a lap.  Once they have 3 sticks, they trade them in for a km card (3 laps = 1 km).  At the end of each day, we record our kms on a chart in the classroom.  The kids earn ribbons when they reach certain milestones (or should we call them kilometrestones?).  There is a ribbon for 10km, 25km, 40km and so on.  Please make sure your child is wearing shoes and clothing appropriate for running and walking.  A water bottle is also greatly needed.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
