No Sharing This Week and Firetrucks!

We will not be doing sharing this week at all.  We are a little bit behind on our printing booklets and need to catch up before beginning a new letter.

Also, on Wednesday, during our regular sharing time, the firefighters are going to be visiting our classroom.  We have just begun our study of community helpers and will be reading a lot about all the people in our communities who help us.  "Community" can be a tricky concept to understand at first.  Today, we talked about our school being a community.  It's a place where people work together, share things and help one another.  We also learned that our classroom is a small community within the bigger community of Brooksbank School.  If you have the opportunity, please continue this discussion about community at home.

We worked on our firetrucks today.  Thanks to those of you who were able to send in egg cartons.  We now have enough!  (and a couple of leftovers for other projects, yeah!).

We assembled our ladders for our fire trucks.

We worked on sorting and explaining our sorting rules.

We practiced printing Gg

We practiced printing our names, beginning with a capital letter and then using lower case letters for the rest of our names.

We worked on a sequencing activity.  Looking at flu related pictures and putting them in order from first to last.

Check out these Fire Fighters….they are driving the truck.  I know the pictures seem a little funny here on the blog, but just wait until you see them on our firetrucks!  They were too cute not to include here…..
