Thanking Ms Frogley

We have been beyond lucky this year to have Ms Frogley come and share her Yoga expertise with us almost every day.  We made a card for her to let her know how much we appreciate her.

Today we did "choose your own pose" day.  It was fun to experiment and try something new.

Then we worked together to build a group pose.  Three people started us off in "rock".

then we added some "downward dogs"

then 2 "trees"

Then 4 "warriors"

and finally 2 "cobras"

ta da!

we ended with "love and kindness"

We had two friends share their trophies today and we celebrated one more summer birthday.

I can't believe tomorrow is the last day...such mixed emotions.  These kids really are something special.

I've told them to dress for a very warm assembly tomorrow.  We will watch the grade 7 Farewell Assembly.

Flying Comets!

I haven't shown you any photos of Yoga lately, so I thought I'd show you some of the things that Ms Frogley has been teaching us.  Here we are warming up our bodies and stretching out our sides.

A new pose we learned today was Dancer.  It takes a lot of concentration and balance.

We had a repeat guest reader today.  The excitement continues and it's fantastic!

This afternoon, we noticed the big kids headed towards the grass field carrying all kinds of interesting things, so we asked them if we could come and see what they were doing.  It turns out that they made comets (yes, you heard that right...comets!) earlier in the day and were going to the field to launch the comets into space (or at least into the air).  They worked in groups to devise something that would act as a launcher and today was test day.

Here is Mrs Dolan showing us the comet (they used dry ice and other "ingredients" to replicate a comet).

watching some failed launch attempts

watching and waiting

One group had to go and get another bicycle pump, so we ran across the field while we waited.

So interesting and fun to watch!

Keepin' Cool

I sent home scrapbooks and printing practice booklets today.  If your child goes to after school care, I didn't send the scrapbooks/printing practice booklets home because they are large and tricky to carry. If it is possible for you to pop in to pick these things up, I think that would be best.  If you can't, I will find a bag to make carrying easier.  Please let me know what works best for you.  Also, I anticipate that Edu-Pac school supply orders will be arriving very soon.  These will be sent home with kids too. They are very heavy and tricky to carry.  This may also be something you will want to make arrangements to come in and pick up yourselves.  Let me know.

This guy brought in a trophy that he received from baseball this year.  He was so proud to show it to everybody.  I'm afraid it may have sparked everyone else to want to bring in trophies/medals tomorrow.  It's ok with me if it's ok with you.

We went up to Loutet playground this afternoon to enjoy a shadier place to play.  It was lovely in the shade and not too hot in the sun.  We had a great time playing.  I only managed to take a few photos.
