Caterpillars!

Reminder: tomorrow is a Professional Development Day (no school for students) and Monday is Victoria Day (no school for anyone!)  Have a great long weekend!

Here is a little look at our morning building time:

We had a special delivery today.  We received a delivery of some painted lady caterpillars.  We talked more about the life cycle of a butterfly and did some work drawing and writing about what we see, what we think and what we wonder about caterpillars/butterflies.  We also had the chance to take a close look at the caterpillars.  Because we won't be at school for the next 4 days, they are going to look quite a bit different the next time we see them!

We also worked on our butterfly life cycles and we created some stunning butterfly art work in the style of Eric Carle (lots of good cutting and gluing).  As part of this art project, we learned about symmetry and I've asked the kids to look around the house for examples of symmetry (just to continue the conversation at home).
