Christmas Concert, Jingle Walk, Report Cards and…..Tennis!

Hi everyone,

Thanks to all of you for coming out to support our Christmas Concert.  I think the Kindies stole the show (but I'm a little biased!)  They did such a super job.  I wasn't able to take any photos during the evening performance, but I managed to snap a few at the Matinee.  They are a bit blurry, but I thought I'd include them any way.

Jingle Walk:
Thank you, thank you, thank you to Carol (Dylan's mom), Sara (Charlotte's mom) and Kat (Ava's mom) for walking with us during our Jingle Walk today.  In the excitement of it all, I forgot to take some photos….but, we will be walking our route again on Monday to pick up food donations, so I'll be sure to take some then.  If you would like to walk with us, we'll be heading out at 11:00.

Report cards came home in your child's home envelope today.  Please read through them and let me know if there is anything that you would like more clarification on.  You keep the actual report, but we ask that you sign the envelope and send it back to school as soon as you can.  We use the same envelope for all three terms.

….Tennis!
Also in the home envelope is a yellow notice about tennis.  A tennis expert will be coming into the school to teach all the kids tennis skills.  Please return the yellow form and $15 to me as soon as you can (and before Dec. 19).  Thanks!

Oh, an update on our science experiment….we're going to try again next week (sigh).

Looking ahead…
Next Friday is PJs with a purpose day.  Kids are encouraged to wear PJs and bring a small donation to "Team Finn".  Our class also decided that we would like to bring one stuffy that day too.

Have a great weekend!

Science Experiement

So we are in the middle of our first Science experiment.  We formed pipe cleaners into snowflake/star shapes and submerged them in a solution of hot water and Borax.  Then we made some predictions.  What do you think will happen (if it works, it will be magical….if it doesn't, we'll try again!)  Check back tomorrow to see what happened.
Have a look….

whoops, I just realized that I printed "power" instead of "powder"

Christmas Concert

We will be performing at the Christmas concert on Thursday.  There will be a matinee performance at 12:45 (you are welcome to come and watch, admission is by donation) and then we will perform again in the evening.  The evening show begins at 7:00.  Students are asked to arrive no earlier than 6:45pm.  Students will come to classrooms to wait until their turn to take the stage.  At the end of the performance, please come and pick your child up from the classroom again.  I will only dismiss students when I see a parent or guardian.  Our class has been asked to wear "holiday best" for the performances.  Also, if you are attending the evening performance, please make sure to bring your tickets with you!

Constable Jensen came to Kindergarten

We had a visit from our school liaison officer, Constable Jensen, today.  He talked with us about street safety and then spent some time answering questions from the class.

Jingle Walk

This Friday we are going to be walking around the neighborhood delivering flyers letting the community know that we will be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to the Harvest Project. We will be walking at 1:15.  Then, on Monday, we will be walking the route again to pick up the donations.  We will go out at 11:00am.

I have already heard from a few parents that they are interested in joining us (thank you!).  If you would like to join us, just send me a quick email and let me know.

Because it's the "Jingle Walk", kids can bring jingle bells to ring as we walk.

As always, kids will need to be dressed for the weather.

thank you

Thank you!!!!

I just wanted to send out a HUGE thank you to all the parents who helped contribute to the Jingle Mingle (volunteering leading up to the night, volunteering during the event, contributing to our Mexican basket, baking for the bake sale, donating items to be sold…the list goes on and on).  It was such a wonderful event.  In the words of my 7 year old son, "that's the best time I've had in years!".  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Centre Time Fun

We had such a good play this afternoon, everybody was busy doing all kinds of things…thought you might like to take a look.

Mrs. Watt chatting with the kids in the house centre

What's going on here?  The kids tell me they're all a family….I think they may need to look for a bigger house!

Whipping up some "yummy treats" at the play dough centre

Colouring, colouring, colouring

and colouring, colouring, colouring!

Hope to see you tonight at the Jingle Mingle.
