Fire Drill

Here's a close up, bird's eye view of some impressive building today.  This guy worked so hard to build the structure and it accidentally got knocked over.  He handled this disappointment so well.  We rebuilt it together and took a photo.  We celebrated this for so many reasons!

The orange structure on the left also got knocked over before the builders were ready for it to come down.  (Must be a "Friday" thing!).  I'm so glad it snuck its way into this photo.  Hopefully the builders (EK and TF) notice it in this photo.

The other structure, the one that it actually featured in the photo, was the result of very focused, very determined work!

Here is a picture of a small group of kids that worked for an extended period of time, cooperating and collaborating.

This group did a lot of talking together today, sharing information that they have about different creatures.

We had our first fire drill today.  There was some anxiety amongst some of the students in the class leading up to the drill.  I talked them through what to expect.  We practiced lining up and moving to the back door.  We practiced saying "here" when I called their names.  We practiced standing really quietly so that we could listen to directions.  When it came time for the actual fire drill, the kids did an AMAZING job, I was so proud of each and every one of them!

I sent an email home with some information today.  Please have a look.
