Earthquake Drill and Measurement

Look at this morning building.  Fantastic!

We had an earthquake drill today. We practiced "duck, cover and holding" and the kids did a great job.

Today, we gathered classroom materials and got together in small groups to order our objects longest to shortest.  We had to make sure that we lined the objects up evenly at the bottom so that we could make a true comparison.  The kids worked together and had a lot of math conversations.

Then we took our items and joined other kids to make new groups and repeated the activity, making new comparisons and having new conversations.

Please check your child's home envelope for these two pieces of paper.  One is a field trip form for an upcoming trip to Artists For Kids Gallery and the other is an order form for a snack on Fun Day.

thanks!
