We were so lucky that Jared was able to come to our classroom today for our Young Actors Project class. We had a great time learning all about acting with him.
we warmed up our bodies
and our faces
and our lips
we blew imaginary bubbles
Then we did a "mirror" activity where we got together with a partner and mirrored his/her actions.
Then we walked around the classroom, flooding our partner, and moving in exactly the same way as him/her.
Then we walked around the classroom leading with different parts of our bodies.
Here, we are leading with our tummies.....
our chests.....
and our chins.
Here, we were playing a guessing game. Half the class acted out a situation and the other half had to guess what we were doing. This one is walking in sticky mud.
smelling fresh air
smelling something smokey
warming by the fire
Then Jared taught us about masks and their importance in theatre.
He showed us some photos of masks from different places and different times.
Then we got to try on some "neutral" masks.
The challenge with wearing these masks is that you can't use your face to show expression, you can only use your body.

Then we ended with "story time" where three kids took turns coming up with one sentence each to tell a story. Pretty funny!
Finally, we had one more "family sharing" today.
