Light Table

I was at a meeting this morning and the class had a Teacher on Call for the first time.  The kids did so well.  I received a lovely note from the teacher telling me how helpful and kind the kids were.  It was great to come back in the afternoon and hear all about their successful morning!

Since I only had an hour with them this afternoon, I don't have a lot to share from the day.  We brought out the light table for the first time today.  Some of the kids had a great time arranging colored jewels and stones on the surface.  If your child did not get a chance to explore the light table today, we will be bringing it out again tomorrow.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

We welcomed a new student to our class today.  The kids were so kind and understanding…we talked about how it would feel to be entering a room of 20+ people who already knew each other.  They were very thoughtful and considerate of his feelings.

Reminder, tomorrow is letter "B" sharing day.  Please help your child find a household item beginning with "B".

I will be at a meeting tomorrow morning.  I have told the kids that they will have a "guest teacher" until lunch time.  We talked about what to expect and how they can be helpful.

We did alphabet stations for the first time today.  The kids rotated through 5 different stations exploring letters and practicing printing and shaping the letter "A".  There are lots of photos to give you an idea of the things we did at each station.  Take a look…..

On Tuesday afternoons, we are able to use the school iPads.  Today, I let the kids explore the games that we have and check it all out.  We learned how to carry them safely around the class and how to "swipe" away the games before putting the iPads away.  Next time we use them, we will have a more directed focus.  Today was exploration day.
