Reminders, Reading and Capoeira

I sent an email this afternoon with some reminders.  If you missed it, here are the highlights:

Wednesday, February 25: Pink shirt day at Brooksbank (all students are being asked to wear a pink shirt, if possible)

Wednesday will also be Nn sharing day.  Please encourage your child to look for an item beginning with the letter Nn.

Friday, February 27: Multicultural lunch, please sign up to bring something to contribute to our potluck lunch

Monday, March 2: Report Cards come home

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (March 3, 4 and 5): Parent Teacher conferences.  Please sign up for a time to meet with me to discuss your child's progress (if you feel that you don't need to meet with me at this time, please do not feel obligated to sign up).

Today, we practiced reading our alphabet books.  We are working hard to learn all of the letter sounds.
reading glasses always help!

We also worked hard printing the letter Mm today.  We are working really hard to print our letters with correct formation.  For almost all letters, the pencil should start at the top and pull down.  If your child is printing at home, please encourage him/her to form letters correctly.

After lunch, we went into the gym for a very exciting performance.  The musicians and dancers from Axe Capoeira came to share their talents with us.  We heard a lot of drumming, saw a lot of dancing and some martial arts from Brazil.  We also had the chance to stand up and dance too!
