Then we put our bags away for the time being and our big buddies from Mrs. Nykyforuk's class came down to help us make Valentine's for staff members who do not enroll a class at Brooksbank (Mrs. Martin, Ms Lee, Mrs. Enright and Mrs. Lanigan in the office…) The kids worked together so well and created some beautiful cards.
Then we snuck around the school delivering our cards. We also snuck into the office and surprised Mrs. Martin while she was working on her computer (who knew 19 Kindergarten kids could be so quiet that someone wouldn't even notice them in a tiny office!). We also surprised Ms Lee in the Library and Mr. Kelly and his Grade 5/6 class. Sneaky, sneaky!
Then we came back to check out our Valentine's bags. This was such a lovely time. I overheard so many of the kids thanking each other for their cards and small treats. But I have to say, my favorite part was watching some kids taste spicy cinnamon hearts for the first time…..priceless! (and of course, I didn't manage to take a photo, sigh).
In the afternoon, we had our weekly signing lesson with Rhena. We learned some Valentine's words today.
Valentine's (or heart)
day
happy
day
candy
candy (there are 2 ways to sign candy, can you see them both?)
love
I love you (a very cool sign which combines the letters I L and Y)
And this happened after school and I just couldn't resist adding it!
Have a very Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow! and a great weekend too!
