Qs and Compound Words

Here's my "little" one. He built a masterpiece before school this morning and wanted everyone to see it!

We are learning about compound words. This is a new concept and we are starting to notice compound words in the books we read and the conversations we have. If you come across any at home, please share them with your children.

oh goodness, I can't remember the name of this Pokemon, but I can assure you, it starts with the letter Q

This is a piggy bank that hold coins with queens on them. He brought it in because it's a cube, and we had a long chat about how the word "cube" sounds like it starts with a Q but it doesn't. We also talked about how it is sometimes tricky to figure out the beginning sounds of some words.

Squeegee Painting

Today, we made Easter eggs using a new technique. We dribbled paint of the paper and then used a squeegee to spread the paint. It was quite magical watching the colours mix and blend together.

The End of the Rainbow

Today we made rainbow chains, complete with a pot of gold at the end...nothing brightens up a Monday like some glitter!

We had so much fun outside in the sun this afternoon. It was lovely not to have to worry about coats and boots. Alas, tomorrow they are calling for rain again...sigh!

Yesterday and Today (Again!)

Thank you to all of you for coming in for our Three-Way Conferences. I met with every child and every family! It was so nice to celebrate your child's successes with you!

Because of conferences, I didn't manage to get to the blog yesterday. Here are some photos....

Great team work and collaboration yesterday, we took photos at regular intervals in fear that their work might tumble down.

This pair spent a lot of time yesterday afternoon trying to launch marbles from a ramp. They were trying to get their marble to roll off the carpet. They experimented with different sized marbles to see which went the furthest.

Many of us finished our latest art project. We thought it was time to add a bit of Spring to our hallway. There are three more that are almost finished that will be added on Monday....
