January

Here's a photo of the calendar hanging outside the classroom...

From yesterday and today….

Yesterday, during math tub time, I didn't give the kids a specific task to work on.  It was nice to see the kids working together and using their creativity to explore new ideas.  In the first photo, you can see that one student discovered that putting two red trapezoids together equalled one yellow hexagon and that they can all interlock together.

We also got carried away with glitter yesterday.  Glitter was added to the play dough and then we decided to make some glittery snowflakes to add to our "animals in winter" bulletin board.  This was a "centre time" activity, so not all the kids chose to get gluey and glittery.

Today, we started a new art project…..can you guess what they are going to be?

Sharing is back on!

This Wednesday, we will be resuming our Sharing time.  Please help your child look around the house for an item beginning with the letter I.  I will be putting a reminder in your child's home envelope tomorrow.

thanks!

Tennis anyone?

Happy new year!  It was so nice to see everyone's smiling faces this morning.  I love January.  It always feels like a fresh start without all of the September craziness.

Today, we welcomed a new student to Division 16.  His name is Jonny and he is new to Canada from Brazil.

Also, we started the day off with our first tennis lesson.  Marcus is going to be teaching us tennis skills over the next two weeks.  We learned some ball handling skills and worked on our hand-eye coordination today.  The kids had great concentration and really tried hard to perform the skills….I think we have some talent here!

Here are a few pictures to show you what we did.  Again, excuse the blurriness of the photos…these kids don't stay still for long!  The next time we have a tennis lesson is on Wednesday.
