Space Centre Visit!

Today, the Space Centre came to our school to teach us all about the objects in our sky.  The blue bubble that you see in this first picture is a mini-planetarium.  We went inside and looked at the ceiling.

These photos do not show up so well here, maybe if you enlarge them you may be able to see more (?).  This is what we walked into, it looks like we are sitting in our gym.

We looked at the constellations.

Here is Orion and his belt.

Here are lots of constellations.

This is the sun.

Here's what the sun looks like when the projector wears sunglasses.

This is the Earth moving around the sun.

We saw how day and night happen.

This is what the surface of Mars looks like.

This is "Curiosity" the rover on Mars.

This is Jupiter.

Here is one of Jupiter's moons.

This is Neptune.

This is Saturn.

Here's what Saturn's rings look like up close.

This is one of Uranus's moons, it's covered in snow and has volcanoes that shoot snow!

The Northern Lights.

The International Space Station (the ISS)

The Canadarm

It was amazing how much the kids in the class already knew about our solar system!  They are a smart bunch!

Mrs/ Threndyl came in again today to teach us the next lesson in "Incredible Flexible You".  We learned all about "group plans" today.  Please take a look in your child's home envelope for more information.

Please note, there will be NO SHARING tomorrow.  We need to catch up a little bit before we are able to move on to our next letter.  Thanks!
