Alphabet Stations

Reminder to sign up for helping out at the Jingle Mingle. The sign up sheets are outside out classroom door, behind the door.

We had a fire drill today. We knew about it ahead of time and put our coats on first! The kids were stars!

Some cool collaborative building this morning.

Today we worked with 10 frames. This is one of the ways that we explore numbers and build strategies. I added and took away pompoms and the kids had to tell me the number. This is something that you can do at home too....use an egg carton and something to go in the spaces.

ask your child what number this is

and this one

we also spent some time counting by 10s to 40 today. The kids did a great job, next time we will count to 50!

We went to 5 different alphabet stations today. Please take a look at some of the things we did.

Practicing lines and circles.

matching pictures and then looking at the back at the letters to name the letter and think about the sound it makes.

Putting cards in ABC order (this was the place of lots of singing today....abcdefg, hijklmnop...)

machine letters and saying their names

printing our names (I blurred out the names to protect privacy, but they were doing a great job!)

we later found the correct home for the Q
