So, I've decided to attend a "Bootcamp" exercise class after school on Thursdays. This may mean that I won't be posting anything on the blog those days. Here is what you missed from yesterday…
I took a few photos of our beautifully organized classroom library and, as a class, we looked at the photos and noticed what made it so organized (smaller books at the front, covers facing forward, not upside down, board books all together with spines facing out). We studies the photos before putting our books away and tried hard to keep the baskets and shelves organized. I'm happy to report that the classroom library still looks just like this…after looking at books several times!
We learned two new circuits in gymnastics…
this is a "monkey with a broken foot"
hanging
lifting
one foot hops
two feet hops
one foot hops
balancing on a bosu (not sure how to spell that!) ball…this is the "superman" pose
"airplane"
jumping up and off
roll the die and perform that number of jumps
tuck jump
straddle hang
pencil roll
straddle hang
straddle hang
star jump
monkey with a broken foot again
one foot hops
side plank
frog jumps
hang and lift
here are more photos of us in action
Finally, I am very pleased to introduce you to Miss Maria. Miss Maria is a teacher candidate (formerly known as "student teacher") from UBC and she is going to be with us for the remainder of the school year. At this time, she is just here on Thursdays (although, not next Thursday) and then, after spring break, she will be with us every day for 10 weeks! There are 9 other teacher candidates at Brooksbank following the same timeline. We are so excited to have her with us. She fits in so well with our classroom and the kids have already started to connect with her. Please come in and say hi next time she is here (on the 21st).
