Last Day of K!

Well, here we are on our last day of Kindergarten! It seems hard to believe that this year has come to an end. When I think back to this group at the beginning of September, so little, I can't help but feel proud of how far they've come. They have worked so hard this year, learning to be at school, learning to work together with a group of 20 kids, and learning all kinds of new information and skills. They are a fun loving bunch with so many interests and talents. It has been a pleasure watching them grow and develop.

Here are photos from our last day together as a class. Make sure to scroll to the bottom of this post for some information about September....

We went into the gym today to watch the Farewell Assembly for our Grade 7s.

So, I thought I'd give you a little bit of information about September and how things work for our new Grade 1s.

On the first day back to school (the Tuesday after Labour Day), the kids come back to school from 8:50-recess time. They come back to my class and check in with me that day. We take attendance and find out who moved in and out of our Brooksbank family over the summer. We will spend time together, talking about our summers and reconnecting. Then, after the kids go home and after we have our updated attendance, the staff works to build classes. Sometimes we are able to do this in one day and sometimes it takes us longer. If we are able to get classes built and ready, on the Wednesday, the kids come back to me at the beginning of the day and I send them off to their new class around recess time. If we are not ready, kids still come back to me and we will let you know what the plan is at that time.

I hope this helps with the transition back to school.

Finally, I want to thank you all for your support this year. Thank you for all the lovely gifts and cards, they are very much appreciated! It has been wonderful being part of your child's Kindergarten year and I wish you all the most wonderful summer!
