Teeth, Trees and Assemblies

Today, we had a visit from a dental hygienist from Vancouver Coastal Health who did the Kindergarten dental screening.  Please look for a letter like the one above in your child's home envelope.

We finished our Christmas Tree art today.  These are also in your child's home envelope.  We thought they would make your fridge look especially festive!

This afternoon we attended a Recognition Assembly.  Once a term, we will get together with the rest of the school and recognize groups of kids for the great things they do.  Most often, the kids being recognized are the older kids because they are the peer mediators and play in the band and on the sports teams (etc) but I think it's really important for the younger kids to see because it gives them something to aspire to as they get older.

We also said good-bye to Mr. Kelly.  He is our Vice Principal and will be moving to Queen Mary School in January.  We are all really sad to see him go.

Also at this assembly, the "Do Good" group made each staff member a gorgeous tree and asked us all to come to the front of the gym…they thanked us for being so "treemendous".  How lovely!

Then, we had a little Christmas sing along.  What a nice afternoon we had!

Reminder: tomorrow is PJ day.  A donation jar will be in the front hall if you wish to make a donation to the Finn Foundation (money goes towards childhood cancer research).  I've also let the kids know that they can bring a stuffie to school if they wish.
