As you already know, we had quite a bit of excitement here this afternoon. A tree in the forested area beside our classroom fell. All the children were inside and nobody was injured. The tree did not make contact with the building either. But it did cause a lot of excitement and other feelings. Once we were calm, we had a talk about it and the kids were able to share stories and thoughts. Because the tree is currently in the area that you usually come to pick up your children, we will be dismissing from our inside door until we've been given the go ahead to use the back door again. Thanks for you help with this today.
Today during printing practice, I challenged the kids to see if they could print some of the words of the items that they drew. When their pictures were finished, they moved to the carpet area to get a better look at the words. They worked really hard copying the letters and felt very proud of their accomplishments (as did I!).
When they finished, they worked on math tubs for a couple of minutes before going outside. There are always requests for photos!
This afternoon, we started drawing some pretty cute reindeer. We are using oil pastels to colour them, something that some of us haven't used before. We are going to finish them tomorrow.
Please check your child's backpack tonight. Your Christmas Concert tickets are attached to the request form. I think everyone was given up to 2 tickets. If you requested extra tickets, I don't think they have sorted those out yet. We should know about the extra tickets soon.
Also, if you ordered anything from the Card Project, the orders were sent home today. I did my best to get them into backpacks, but some wouldn't fit. I hope they all made it home safely.
