A Bit of Art

We created some snowman art today. The process was a little different than with other art projects. Normally we do our art projects in small groups, just a few kids at a time. Today, we all worked at the same time and completed our projects at nearly the same time. We talked a lot about the steps involved and listed the steps on the board and I challenged the kids to see if they could work through all the steps without asking me what to do next. They were super stars! Look at them working away, knowing exactly what to do and how to do it!

Here were the steps, listed on the board for them to refer to.

Then, they lined up to paint the faces with a sample to look at for ideas.

We did some other work today too. This guy did such a fantastic job, challenging himself to work harder than ever before. Mr. Kelly came in to congratulate him!

Here are our finished snowmen. They turned out wonderfully and the kids did the whole project independently. Amazing!

We also had a lockdown drill today. We practiced sitting still and quietly. We didn't talk about "why" much at all. We talked about the fact that we need to learn different ways to help us be safe, just like during fire drills and earthquake drills. The kids were calm and did everything just the way I asked them to. If you or your child(ren) have any questions, please let me know.
